A poster for the economic blackout on February 28. It is a big red Jack rabbit on an aqua blue back ground. It says economic blackout in hand done black type. There are two black speech bubbles. One says “don’t buy stuff Friday February 28th. The other says we have power. Below it says No Amazon, Walmart, target, gas food, gas. Below that it says OK small business, use cash. Designed by Martha Rich.

I made this the other night while procrastinating, mainly because I thought all the posts about the blackout were boring. It feels like there is momentum bringing people together!

This is the front page of a fraudulent research article that purported to show a link between vaccines and autism. The word "RETRACTED" is written across it in large red letters.

Wikipedia: On 28th February 1998, a fraudulent research paper by physician Andrew Wakefield and twelve coauthors, titled "Ileal-Lymphoid-Nodular Hyperplasia, Non-Specific Colitis, and Pervasive Developmental Disorder in Children", was published in the British medical journal The Lancet.[1] The paper falsely claimed causative links between the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine and colitis and between colitis and autism. The fraud involved data selection, data manipulation, and two undisclosed conflicts of interest.

Today is Retraction Day, when we observe the anniversary of the retraction (Feb. 2, 2010) of the fraudulent paper that purported to show a link between vaccines and autism. 🧪#medsky

Lmao the chair of the day accidentally hit the "leave or be arrested button," sending the chamber into a brief moment of panic and confusion.

This is my favorite picture of Stonewall.

They knew they were getting arrested just for being LGBTQ+.

Yet... they're still here, standing outside of the boarded up Stonewall Inn, smiling as the world was at a fever pitch of hatred against them.

I think about it a lot in moments like this.

A rainbow in the clouds from the sun reminds me how gay & queer & full of love I am. No one gets to dismiss or erase my existence and the reality of the existence of queer, gender expansive and trans people. We have always existed and will continue to exist for time immemorial.

Male victimhood ideology driven by perceived status loss, not economic hardship, among Korean men Research published in Sex Roles suggests that male victimhood ideology among South Korean men is driven more by perceived socioeconomic status decline rather than objective economic hardship.

Despite patriarchy's persistence, growing numbers of men believe they have it worse off than women. And, new research shows this "male victimhood" ideology is most common among men who aren't facing hardship. Which means what they're really feeling is status loss. 1/

A turkey vulture landing. Did you know they can evacuate their stomachs while flying as a survival skill? If you find yourself in a mysterious meat shower, check your surroundings for these metal as hell birds.

In a dry desert scene where dead juniper trees covered in tennis-ball-yellow lichen and their fallen duff cover the ground, a very tall mushroom grows with a scaly, light-orange, 12"+ stipe, and a strangely round top. The bottom edge of the top shows deep orange spores while the rest of the top is a light-colored cover, which is really a spore-containing sac that's falling away as the mushroom matures.

Okay so this one's not about the image quality, but I had to get a shot (with my bird lens, which is all I had at the time) of this new-to-me mushroom, the sandy stilt-puffball, Battarrea phalloides. These things look like they would grow on Mars! 🪐 🍄📷 📸🎞 🏜 🍄‍🟫 🌳
