this is one of my fave pics of my late Harvey, who I lost two months ago. I rescued him and then found out most of this 'breed' are deaf and have so many health issues. I see a lot of studies on cats and dogs but few on domesticated rabbits, which makes them seem lesser - he was my absolute world.

Fed some much smaller Cyanea capillata today, but this impressive one was putting on quite a show just doing its thing. #cnidarian love

How to Make a Mammal in Nine Evolutionary Steps From the formation of inner ear bones to the rise of hair to cover our bodies, these developments made us distinct from other animals

Nice article on #synapsid #evolution - always glad to see non-mammalian synapsids (especially therapsids) get some popular attention!

Could honestly watch this all day. Also high fives to everyone who has the passion and constitution for lab work - heroes donโ€™t wear capes but lab coats ๐Ÿฅผ

Iโ€™m assuming in hindsight the lecturer in the theatre didnโ€™t want to lecture, but yes - just the scene of the checked floor and weird perspectives and I still donโ€™t understand that or the context in the communications degree haha

Itโ€™s incredible. Still wondering if itโ€™s real. I never found it on Twitter as it was already a dumpster fire when I paid attention. But Iโ€™m so happy to see this community here!

First degree (journalism), postmodernism and media theory, as I had no idea why, at age 19, I was being shown Twin Peaks scenes and paying for the privilege.

In the second degree (zoology and animal science), physics. Not even the dinosaur puke explainer helped and I got a pass by a single mark.

That said, I've thought about this a lot - and have made an effort to cover as many ADHD and autism research as I can at work, so there's robust science writing for people to look up when they're confronted with such ignorant opinions from people lucky enough to think camping is the answer, haha.

This is akin to telling ADHDers they just need to go to bed earlier. I'm 46 and the last year on vyvanse and I haven't had a panic attack since. I spent my life thinking I had to make better lifestyle choices and be stronger, like many women. Neurotypical people love this narrative so much though...

'Brain stars' store our memories like a microscopic filing cabinet Fascinating new findings into how clusters of 'brain stars' retain memories has changed what we know about how they're held in our minds.

I'm bad at posting my work, and our readers don't love this topic so it's a fight to cover. But I found this fascinating. Neurobio, signalling, genetics and animal behaviour, and evolutionary biology are my jams. Love to be sent more studies and if anyone needs a RA...

*writers haha (we need an edit function, as a writer Iโ€™m horrified I canโ€™t fix this! Haha)

Itโ€™s really good, such a beautifully written book on aging, misogyny (in literature and beyond) and mortality, but thereโ€™s such an understated way itโ€™s delivered - Iโ€™m so glad I judged it by its cover (blurb). Always in awe of writer who can say so much in so few words

Picked up at a street library without knowing much and oh boy itโ€™s pertinent to the times. Someone local turns the books into bookcrossing ones so you can trace their journey. Its super wholesome haha

Itโ€™s wild how interchangeable actual intelligence and manipulation is in an age of this much distrust in science and low comprehension skills across the general public.

And heโ€™s turned Twitter into 4chan. I like to call him a destroyer of migratory bird nests, a cruel manipulator of his baby factories and the dude who threw largely black workers into a UHaul to canvas for trump against their will. I have more.

And he also funds bio pharma so I guess if there are no researchers for trials, you can cut out the middle animals and people and just use a much larger population for your โ€œstudyโ€โ€ฆ like the literal population, not in a science sense. Grim

a major problem with bluesky is that i can offhandedly remark "i hate drawing, its too hard" and then a sweet old lady will gently encourage me and kindly point me to some useful resources to get started drawing and i dont know what to do with myself
