a soapstine carving of a bird on some branches

I'm going to do another #artAdventCalendar post tonight because my last one had such a poor photo (only one i have of it)

Here's a soapstone carving I did in 2019 of a white breasted nuthatch.

A small stream winding through a wooded landscape. Working with a natural palette of greens and yellows, I focused on the dynamic play of light on the water and the surrounding foliage. The brushstrokes are loose and expressive, aiming to evoke the tranquil mood of this outdoor scene without strict detail.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 7 “Creek,” oil on canvas board, 11 inches (ca. 28 cm) x 14 inches (ca. 36 cm) a piece that captures the quiet rhythm of a small stream winding through a wooded landscape. I focused on the dynamic play of light on the water and the surrounding foliage.

A gremlin or goblin figure with huge ears and a curious expression. He is draped in a cloak made from coarse mulberry bark, and bits of muted green hemp fibre that resemble seaweed functioning as a scarf. He has duck-like orange webbed feet, and carries a bucket in one hand and a fishing rod in the other. He is standing against a soft white background decorated with pieces of driftwood and some dried grass.

For #ArtAdventCalendar Day 5, a friendly but very shy bog dweller.

Finished today and made from paper mache, wood, dyed hemp fibre and mulberry bark. 🐌

The Moon rising at the end of a snowy road. There is a rainbow coloured halo around the Moon...more pronounced on either side. There are faint pillars in the halo and stars in the sky

A very cold Winter night a few years ago for day 5 #ArtAdventCalendar ...it was somewhere in the -40 zone and I could see the ice crystals dancing in the beam of my headlamp...and they created a beautiful lunar halo and pillars from house and street lights...very frosty but so special☺️

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 5 is the time I played chicken with a crane; this one actually only turned at the last moment and clipped me with a wing upon landing 😂🪶📷

A horse walking in a winter landscape with some mist in the background, head bowed down, giving the image a somber look... Until you see there's a second horse or at least a horses but right there. Can't ever be too serious, and I'm not good enough or patient enough of a photographer to get a clean shot.

18x24 oil painting called Break Time. A table with harmonica and guitar nearby along with plates of food and wild blueberry pie.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 5

My mom’s family is very musical and when we got together, we all would play, sing, and dance for hours. Lots of laughter too! I loved breaks too where grandma would have food and always wild blueberry pie with farm cream.

A drawing of an evergreen shrub in a blue pot with white snowflakes on it. A small red cardinal sits in one of the branches. The background is an icy blue with decorative white flourishes in the four corners of the design. There is a splash of a darker blue under the picture of the tree. The words "Peace on Earth" are written across it in white.

A little evergreen with a tiny cardinal friend wishing Peace on Earth for this winter season. I wanted to make something for the time of year which wasn't holiday specific. Just December things and vibes.

Ending day 3 of #artAdventCalendar with 472 participants. A fair bit slower than last year where we had 625 on day 1 (!!)

but still good numbers and most importantly...great posts.

Be sure to let your artist friends on here know what a cool thing this is.

The bottom left painting is in tribute to Stan Collins from Newfoundland, whose photograph of the Lobster Cove Lighthouse I used as a reference. Sadly, Stan passed away a month ago after a lifetime of engineering & photography.
