Although I’m no longer in the charity/nonprofit sector - I’m now working as an Account Exec for @empoweragency.bsky.social - I certainly still feel respected in my place of work. Hopefully, that'll be a given for all employees soon, in the UK and elsewhere!

My experience is mostly in charity/nonprofit, and I've often found myself working with other LGBTQ+ folks. The 2021 UK census found 6.9% of charity managers identify as LGB+, vs 3.2% of all surveyed. Maybe the sector attracts more of us.

Once employed, respect is obviously key. Progress has been made, of course, but I'm still sometimes conscious of my identity, which I’m sure a lot of LGBTQIA millennials probably relate to. It doesn’t totally define me, but I also won't hide it - especially from the people I see 5 days a week!

Since graduating from @universityofleeds.bsky.social in 2016, I've worked in several places. First thing I do when job hunting? Check their website/socials for LGBTQ+ references. #Pride social media posts, #LGBTQIAHistoryMonth blogs - that sort of thing.
