If the Republican senators had a backbone, they could condemn this and stop it.

The Senate Democrats did not give the Republicans unanimous consent. As a matter of fact, they held it up for months. Senate Republicans used the nuclear option to change Senate rules to allow confirmation of some nominees. Those are the facts whether you believe them or not that’s up to you.
