What's the Monarchy For? - Series 1: Episode 1 With access to political players and royal insiders, broadcaster David Dimbleby asks: how much power does the monarch really have – and is it more than we tend to think?

If you've not already done so, do watch this 3 part documentary about the monarchy by David Dimbleby.

Excellent broadcasting.

We desperately need to reform our constitutional arrangements, and certainly how public money flows to these unelected billionaires.

Pleased to discover that slightly misnaming the national chess championship you won as a school child is a much more serious offence than repeatedly racially abusing your fellow pupils and telling them they should go to the gas chamber

My piece on the responses to the UK Covid-UK Inquiry report that try to airbrush the dead away.

It’s gone so quickly from β€˜boat people’ to all immigrants. So quickly from β€˜I don’t mind if they come here legally and pay taxes’ to β€˜actually it’s anyone foreign’. We are living in the β€˜first they came for’ poem. All to give the population a scapegoat so the super rich can hoard yet more wealth.

Farage isn’t a politician, he doesn’t understand the consequences of his proposed policies. If he sends back settled Europeans & they do the same, what happens to all the Reform voters happily retired in Spain etc? If this policy also apply to sports, where would England football & rugby etc be πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

IMMIGRANTS ARE STOPPING YOU GET A HOME
The housing shortage is because of the sell off of council homes/failure to build more, and transition from housing for living to housing for profit

It’s amusing that the right are following the narrative that has worked in the US, drain the swamp, destroy the establishment. Although the current UK structures, civil service etc were put in place to protect the monarchy & aristocracy, so ultimately they are putting themselves in the cross-hairs.

I started nursing in 87, we had funding for beds, social care, education, accommodation etc. The public voted to take that away, to reduce taxes on the rich. 1 year can’t fix that, it took 12 years last time, not 12 months. It’s not just about wages & it takes time, please, when reporting do better!
