I’m a lay pastor and gardener, I love cooking, art and dog walking. I live in an eco house. Despite being retired I’m still interested in tax. And reading. I read all the time even when I should be busy. I hate rainy days on holidays.happily married Alan.

Loved that book.
29.07.2025 13:02 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0This morning! There are two barn owls who hunt in a field of scrub mainly hawthorn which is set aside awaiting development as a housing estate where I walk my dog. They are beautiful and it will be so sad for all of us when the builders eventually arrive.

15.01.2025 07:31 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0As @adambienkov.bsky.social correctly points out the survey actually found that over two thirds of voters *do not* think Keir Starmer will be out of No 10 within a year. Appallingly dishonest reporting of an opinion poll

Watching the #Eynsham #Morris dance in the village square is a fine old #BoxingDay tradition. They bring joy, music & colour on a misty, murky, midwinter's day. ❤️ I love the stick-whacking dances & the ones where they shout "Oi!"

09.12.2024 12:57 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Perhaps I should warn you that Great British Bake Off (GBBO to its fans) is lovely but most of us don’t bake showstoppers on a regular, or indeed an irregular basis, and a Greggs Sausage Roll is probably more representative of normal British food!

A close-up of a fox's face
A lit candle in a polished brass candlestick
It was St Æthelwine of Athelney's day. Old Fox had great faith in him as a calmer of sorrow & hurt & he lit a tall beeswax candle to him in his study. It burnt steady & fiery in the cold November light & had a faint scent of borage & sweet peas & honeysuckle, of quiet June days.

Rolls filled with bacon and onion and cardamom buns on a cooling tray
Baking ahead for a family event in a few weeks. Purogs and cardamom buns. Only concern is whether we can resist them that long 🤨
20.11.2024 07:51 — 👍 5 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0Nope, my collie/spaniel cross considers no weather bad enough to cancel walks. 5-6 miles a day. Every day. I actually think she is so ball obsessed that she doesn’t actually notice the weather 😀

Wolf & I share a birthday on the 23rd. I'm feeling worn down by everything, not least the mammoth effort to stay alive through draining treatments. So if you feel like buying me a hot chocolate on Kofi, joining my patreon or visiting my Etsy shop, we would both be most grateful. Links in my bio.
