04.03.2026 08:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I work with email professionally. Spammers are using AI to uplevel all their schemes, everything from sketchy quasi legal businesses to outright scams and crimes. They might want him as target or bait or to lend legitimacy or all kinds of unsavory plans.

if you're feeling a cryptic unease about days and dates, this might be why:
right now, the days of the week match up with the dates they matched in 2020, and right now is roughly when covid awareness in the u.s. began to lead to shutdowns and the (not-really-locked-down) lockdowns.
More reason for renewables in the modern age... grim reasons but still.

So (1) if you *do* get this reference, do not miss the replies.
(2) I almost didn't believe this was real and there was *no* fucking way I was going to do a search while sitting on a plane with kids sitting behind me
(3) if you don't get the reference CONSIDER YOURSELF LUCKY.
Itβs a short train ride into the city from the airport, but getting luggage stored and getting in and out might eat up most of that time.
28.02.2026 05:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeahhhh thereβs stuff we can debate and then thereβs facts. There is a LOT of pretty objective data out there showing that antisemitism (and related hate crimes) are dramatically on the rise. Someone denying that is very suspect.

you don't get the benefit of the doubt on quote-posting a Nazi account when you had a totenkopf tattoo
this guy is bad, actually
Nods, hopefully (and likely) so. Just wanted to point out that it isn't quite as bizarre as it sounds on its face. No one should panic about this one! But these days, I don't dismiss things out of hand anymore, either.
26.02.2026 20:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I am very privileged to live here and have a member of Congress I actually like. I know that's not normal. But I'd love a world where more of my good weird progressive friends had professional reps they could generally feel happy with.
26.02.2026 20:29 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I know that sounds kind of insane but Rudy Giuliani spent a lot of time in the 90s enforcing NYC's cabaret laws from the 1920s. I'm not surprised to see something similar coming around under this Presidency. www.vice.com/en/article/h...
26.02.2026 20:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I mean, I know you're joking but so far I'm happy with my rep @replsimon.bsky.social. She's new to her current role, but was in local politics before this, and I expect she will continue to be a career politician going forward. She did have another career first but not sure that counts now.
26.02.2026 20:20 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I hate this spin. In a just world, a "career politician" is someone who deeply knows the ins and outs of government and policy, someone who knows how to get things done. I want someone like that to be my advocate! What I want is a career politician who is a good leader and shares my values.

Photo showing a toilet in a bathroom stall where the door is so close it is actually pinned on the other side of the toilet, making it impossible to use or close the door.
Last week, I took a small roadtrip to attend a conference. On the way back, I think I hit a backrooms bathroom in a truck stop.

I'm constantly trying (/failing) to get this point across.
If you're a trained expert in a field, then it may be worthwhile to question the scientific consensus of your peers.
If you're not, the scientific consensus is absolutely the best you can do and it's arbitrary foolishness to disregard it.
There was a public radio segment on a 1960s white family from midtown Palo Alto who provided a home address for school registration to a Black student from East Palo Alto due to the disparity in quality of school districts. I have (white) family who went to that kid's highschool around that time.

Brainwashing, 2026 edition. This paper shows how X's algorithmic feed shifts people's views rightwards. It's a sophisticated, highly effective form of reorientation. And it is utterly chilling.
If you're still on that platform, unhook yourself now.

Having grown up in the area, I can believe it. Not many generational families of color in the area compared to SF. And of course, thereβs East Palo Alto. As an βenlightened Californianβ kid, it didnβt occur to me I had grown up around segregation until I was an adult.
