After deadly floods and landslides killed ~1,200 people in Sumatra, Indonesia revoked permits for 28 companies covering ~1M hectares of forest.
The move frames enforcement as post-disaster accountability, but critics warn it must lead to restoration and real deforestation controls.
There is still time to save an orphaned baby bonobo. Until January 31st, your donation will be tripled to support rescue operations, veterinary treatment, and surrogate mothering. Act now before the match ends: savebonobos.org/TripleMyImpact

The Lake of the Restored Sword is central to Vietnam, surely important to keep pollution-free for locals and visitors alike?
Pollution mars New Year photo time in Hanoi.
On a beautiful sunny day beside Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi, hundreds of young women in their best silk frocks pose for photos in the weeks leading up to Tet, the Vietnamese New Year. Sadly, pollution in the lake has resulted in the death of many fish...

An image for International Jaguar Day featuring a circular photograph of a jaguar against a dark green background. The jaguar, displaying its distinctive spotted coat pattern, is shown in its natural habitat among green foliage. The image has gold text reading "INTERNATIONAL JAGUAR DAY" at the top. Below the circular photo is text describing Mesoamerica's role as a wildlife corridor, mentioning various species including the jaguar. The IPBES logo appears in the bottom right corner. The color scheme uses gold and green tones throughout the design.
Did you know? π Jaguars, symbols of Mesoamerican biodiversity, are listed as Near Threatened on the IUCN Red List, with their population decreasing due to habitat loss, poaching & illegal trade.
On #InternationalJaguarDay, let's highlight their plight and the need to protect this iconic species.
