We extend our deepest condolences to Dr Goodall’s family, colleagues, and all those mourning her loss. As we reflect on her extraordinary legacy, the PSGB reaffirms our commitment to supporting the research, conservation and captive care of primates.

Beyond her scientific contributions, she inspired millions worldwide through her voice for primate conservation and education.

Dr Goodall was a pioneering primatologist who revolutionised our field.   Her groundbreaking work in Gombe, Tanzania, on the behaviour of chimpanzees, set a framework for animal behaviour science for years to come.

It is with profound sadness that the Primate Society of Great Britain (PSGB) acknowledges the passing of Dame Jane Goodall, who died on 1 October 2025 at the age of 91.

Our 2025 Field Skills Workshop is Underway! As part of the field skills workshop, we have a panel of four primate researchers with extensive experience in community-based animal conservation, who will be speaking with our participants.
