Lives of geisha and their apprentices, I definitely recommend watching The Makanai on Netflix. It's very faithful to their daily lives ^^ it was adapted from a manga and has an anime adaptation too ^^ you can also follow certain geisha on Instagram from all over Japan~

Absolutely geisha still exist today. Their numbers aren't as big as they were in the peak of their profession, but they've been stable around 2,000 actively practicing for over two decades at this point. There are districts scattered all over Japan with the biggest ones being in Kyoto and Tokyo

Yeah, they're not prostitutes. They entertain and host traditional banquets at ochaya called ozashiki. Geisha can claim accomplishment in a few different ways, whether that's financial accomplishment, artistic accomplishment or accomplishment through respect from her community ^^ it does take years

Being accomplished as a Geisha is a little open to interpretation and can vary from person to person.

I'm a little confused by this article as the city they mention has many older Geisha practicing, maybe they just meant for new recruits? The more experienced geisha are normally in higher demand as they've had longer to hone their craft.

We try to do what we can to encourage a good ecosystem within our garden, releasing ladybugs every couple years has helped a lot^^ we've seen a huge jump in our population of native green anoles, a bunch of different butterflies and a ton of bee species and birds building nests ~ it's been great

This is the reason my husband cancelled our pest control. Now we try to do more natural pest control for our garden, things like predatory insects for destructive bugs. Our garden is teeming with native wildlife thanks to his efforts.
