This is right on. For people like Allen & VandeHei, being "opinionated" just means expressing progressive opinions, the idea that things should change. Opinions that reinforce status quo hierarchies -- ie, conservative opinions -- don't count as opinion at all. They're just "the way it is."

Reduction is valuable and difficult! I obviously always encourage people to aim for veganism, but it's damaging and stupid to view it as a binary (a viewpoint held by far too many omnivores and vegans alike)

imo, if someone believes some races or ethnicities are genetically inferior to others, that person has revealed a weakness of mind and character that casts extreme if not irrefutable doubt on their other ideas. why would i expect them to use more rigor on, eg, housing than they do on human nature?

why do i want to reform the supreme court? because it’s controlled by fascists and a major source of power and legitimacy. why do i want to dismantle ICE? because they’re the fascist vanguard. why do i want to defund the police? hotbed of fascist political organizing and power. and on and on.

pretty much all of my problems with dem leadership stem from them absolutely not being on board with the “beat the fascists and ruin their names” plan, which makes them horrifically placed obstacles to ridding ourselves of fascists.
