Taking 20% off old HECS debts won't really help current humanities students whose debt has doubled because of JRG. They're still much worse off.

I'd urge anyone keen to see the student contribution to tertiary education costs in Australia reduced to sign this petition.

Labor's bill to cut HECS debts by 20%, which passed this morning, leaves unchanged the structural inequalities built into tertiary education through Job-Ready Graduates. Sign our petition calling for the repeal of this destructive and unfair policy here: www.openpetition.org/au/petition/...

I’ve signed the petition and calling on Australian academics in our law schools to get behind this too. Law is arts and the humanities too, regardless if you’re formally within some business faculty. And business academics, you should be signing it anyway.
