Gavin Newsom and California lawmakers on Friday announced a deal with Uber and Lyft on a bill that would allow hundreds of thousands of rideshare drivers to form unions and bargain collectively while still being classified as independent contractors.

Labor Day: Proud that the Governor just came out for Senate Bill 371, my legislation to slash "government-imposed" fees on Uber & Lyft rides (up to 45% of the fare). In tandem w/AB 1340, will also create a path for 800,000+ rideshare drivers to organize into a union. Giant win for riders & drivers.
