There's a lot wrong there, technically and philosophically.

It's not the increasing size of the blockchain that increases the computing power demand - it's the difficulty part of the algorithm. And, etherium is not built in the same blockchain as Bitcoin.

And, not all the developers were 'ancap'

Bitcoin was not developed by 'the wealthy'. It was developed as an alternative to the corrupt financial system that was on full display when banks were bailed out during the GFC.

I'd try a different LLM if that's the answer you got.

That's because the media is owned by his buddies.

So, apparently, we currently have multiple ongoing attempts by foreign actors to influence the upcoming elections in Australia:

- Meta
- X
- Tiktok
- Murdoch
- Israel?

Our biggest issues start with the media. It will keep getting worse until and unless our pollies show some spine.

I think they would start making very loud examples of people, starting with the leaders of the movement.

Not much - like I commented there, it's incorrect to say that likes don't affect visibility, since some people do sort by 'most liked'. Reposting is more effective of course.

I get annoyed seeing 15 copies of the same thing, and I don't like contributing to that noise.

There's a long history of wealthy folks buying things simply because they are expensive, as a status symbol - I think they used to do that with pineapples at one point. If we accept that status is a thing that affects everyone, would you say there's some value and utility there?

I like that. I'd throw some technology in there - lists of proposals we can all vote on, etc

Hey! You might find this useful. There may be a couple of bots in there, but definitely some very knowledgeable bitcoiners too: go.bsky.app/VrsSid3

Why would it matter how simply you say it? This is an attempt to argue from authority, and you haven't established any.

Providing some evidence or reasoning might help.

Ha, true. Hallucinations are when the language model just makes things up. They've been known to invent legal cases for example, which has gotten a few lawyers in trouble.

Set theory and propositional logic.

More interesting: the convex hull of a set of points on a plane projected into the third dimension using a parabolic 'lift', creates a Delaunay triangulation when those facets are squashed back down into the plane. The dual of that is a nearest neighbour graph.

I think they said I talk too much - for some reason their last sentence didn't make nearly as much sense as the rest lol

Fyi I got some funky DM's from the Lyn Alden on your list - very much suspect they're a bot.

Yep, ethics is a big part of it.

It is incredible technology. Like all tech, it's not inherently good or bad - totally depends on how it's used.

I can see it will be huge in education. I've learnt tons chatting with chatgpt. Hallucinations are a problem but I think that will be solved soon.

Might be, but if so it's because they don't understand how distributed systems work.

I'm about halfway through a masters in AI - taking it slow. Luckily I've never been much of a gamer. I hope to make that a PhD one day too. Much respect for your achievement, and the work you do in education - definitely another primary avenue for positive change.

Fair enough. I fell in love in 2011 when I read the code, and some of the game theoretic reasoning around its mechanics.

Smarter people than I have said, don't invest in what you don't understand. It has its complexities, but they pale in comparison to government currencies.

Bitcoin is still very misunderstood, and cops a ridiculous amount of hate from mainstream financial types.

It was invented as a defence against a corrupt financial system that promotes inequality.

For me, it's one of few things that represents real change and hope.

Corpse Flower livestream: A plant to die for YouTube video by Botanic Gardens of Sydney

If you are feeling overwhelmed, I strongly recommend the livestream of the corpse flower at Sydney Botanic Gardens on YouTube. There are currently 1,500 people in chat waiting for a flower to open, and occasionally claiming that it definitely has moved this time.

WWTF: We Watch The Flower.
