Tonight would’ve been a nice “Keon Coleman game” considering the injuries to other Bills pass catchers. Get him into a rhythm, scheme some stuff for him (which could also help open up Khalil Shakir), and make him a focus. Whether that’s on him or Joe Brady or Josh Allen is larger conversation

Walker also gets pushed around vs the run. He’s flashed but it also part of the problem

Some areas of concern for the Buffalo Bills heading into the bye (in no particular order):

Defense
-stopping the run
-Safeties: missed tackles & poor angles
-spacing in zone coverage
-predictability
-disconnect between rush & coverage
-3rd down defense
-penalties
-handling athleticism/speed

Alway enjoy when the camera cuts to Arthur Blank on the field and he looks like he's just arrived from a ribbon cutting for a steam engine that will usher in the next phase of the industrial revolution

Bills defense needed a stop and the Falcons offense goes for 68 yards on 14 plays and takes 5 minutes off the clock while getting 3 points. And this is after the Bills defense gave the Bills offense chances and the offense threw up on themselves. It’s the opposite of complementary football

Bears are averaging 5.1 expected yards per carry tonight, per NFL Next Gen Stats, based on the positioning and movement of all 22 players at handoff.

That would be a season-high xYPC game for them and well above the 4.2 league average.

Offenses using motion to manipulate the Bills run defense and create angles & space is a tale as old as time

And when the Bills run game gets going, their whole offense gets going

When in doubt, run Duo

When the Bills run game struggles, their whole offense struggles. It’s their foundation and their easy button source point

Potentially huge PBU from Taron Johnson if the Bills can score here to end the half

And yes, the injuries play a role, and they may have attempted to remedy their issues but couldn’t (like wanting to draft Tyleik Williams for example), but year in and year out it’s largely the same struggles across the board

They run back their philosophies and personnel archetypes and lean into them, with maybe a small tweak or two here & there, and get largely similar results.

Granted, there’s a multitude of injuries for the Bills front tonight. But their run defense struggles this year are an extension of their run defense struggles last year. Both schematically and in their personnel

I’m tired boss

The Falcons front is filled with juice and athleticism. If they can get you into known passing situations they can lean into that juice and athleticism

Defenses have been ALL OVER the rail route from the Bills RBs this year whenever they’ve run Mesh Rail

Another example of why Khalil Shakir is like a Running Back once the ball is in his hands

Hard to win like that consistently

There’s too much space in the Bills zone coverages so far tonight. And then you get a rep with tight coverage and Drake London just makes a big boy play for the catch

The Falcons offense has some of the prettiest zone runs. Their OL gets push and creates displacement & Bijan Robinson flows like water or Tyler Allgeier hammers defenders

The Bills deep ball doesn’t have to be core piece of their offense. It just has to be enough to win every now & then and make defenses account for it if they think about selling out with numbers in and towards the box
