Sunday 🧵 of female adventurers:
1st Isabella Bird who wrote 18 books & travelled to US Australia Asia & Mid East. She took issue when the Times said she wore (shock) trousers to climb mountains. Always travelled armed but with apparatus to make tea & died at home packed for her next adventure. /1
