The leak above is a case of messages being in the wild because of people running public discords with a dogshit safety setup and no safeguards against inauthentic accounts

So if you wanna blame people, blame the people running massive public servers with no account verification upon entry, and with the Account Verification Level set to Unrestricted

WHile this too is horrifying, remember that this is less the fault of Discord directly, and something that's honestly hard for even them to do something about because of the nature of how people run their servers

To be fair, this appears to be less a case of a leaked messages, and more a case of hackers making a ton of bot accounts and dumping them into every open server to scrape messages from them.
