for perfect clarity i loathe the hand of the machine and live in a mud shack on a grassy knoll. i go and pick berries from the forest sometimes & i don't know what chatgpt is

spent so long in a cultural echo chamber regurgitating matrixes and deus ex-es and cyberpunks that it seems that nobody can discern how real computers work, and decide to treat them like the magic ones in all the movies

i just cant help but be worried about the way the language surrounding it has dissolved. i see hardly any discussion more complex than "is AI good or is it bad ?" and at no point do they clarify what incarnation of "AI" they're even fucking talking about. it drives me INSANE!

every single thing that a computer can do has been reduced to AI and therefore is now equivalent to its least popular incarnation: generative imagery. generative imagery and webpage scrapers are not the same! video game AI and generative imagery are NOT THE SAME!

i'm just so permanently frustrated with the way "AI" has become a catch-all term for scary technology. we are not in a sci fi movie

if you have a numpad it was genuinely the biggest thing for me when i switched to using it primarily when playing qud... im not sure if u are though

real wake-up call was reading COPRA, i think. dedicated to making that format pull its weight as best as it possibly can. reading michel fiffe's opinions on the structure just completely got me on-board

growing up on a fuckass island with zero actual comics shops near me meant i had to go to a used bookstore. i bought used issues of marvel comics, DC comics, i bought fucking cerebus the aardvark at age 12. and i was young and stupid and couldnt piece things together, but i had *fun* with it

and i especially love it when there's editorial attention given to *clarity* that lets you jump on at any point. i think that's the best legacy that the average superhero left behind. you could start anywhere, and usually piece together enough about what's going on to understand it
