Winsome Earle-Sears had 35% of the vote. There were 10 write-ins as of 7:10 when this was screenshot.

UVA Student Council President Clay Dickerson had a lot to say at yesterday's protest. His reaction after the compact was rejected is just...delightful.
"After UVA had officially rejected the compact, VPM News reached back out to Dickerson for a reaction. He responded via text: 'Wooohooo.'"
Today, UVA became the first public university and the fifth school overall to reject the compact, which requires schools that sign to adhere to a set of standards laid out by the White House in order to receive preferential federal funding.

At Mondayβs meeting, the Charlottesville City Council unanimously approved the purchase of 2000 Holiday Drive, a 27,000-square-foot office building that the city plans to turn into a low-barrier shelter as part of its homelessness intervention plan.

Virginia Department of Health's Office of Licensure and Certification investigates complaints in nursing homes. So far in 2025, there have been 1,079 complaints, up from 730 in all of 2024. Still over 40% of OLC's inspector positions are vacant, according to Youngkin.

Congress will claw back $1.1B from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. VPM, which is a PBS and NPR affiliate, will lose more than $2.5M over the next two years in lost funds. VPM President Jayme Swain says the cuts could result in the loss of Central Virginia local programming.
