Youngkin signs order calling for hiring of more nursing home inspectors More than 40% of the state's inspector positions are currently vacant.

Virginia Department of Health's Office of Licensure and Certification investigates complaints in nursing homes. So far in 2025, there have been 1,079 complaints, up from 730 in all of 2024. Still over 40% of OLC's inspector positions are vacant, according to Youngkin.
