I really need to visit Boston someday so that my mental map of the area isn't 100% based on Fallout.

I read something this year (probably on here, for my sins) that, contemporaneously, no one knew the Roman Empire was falling forever, just that one day an important bridge collapsed and no one ever came to fix it. I think about this all the time.

Look you just have to make the cool weird shit that excites you. You must. In this world besieged by bland, scrubbed boring, computer slop, you must. Make the thing you’re embarrassed to make, the thing that feels β€œtoo much” because otherwise we get drowned in a sea of cowardly work made by a button

Huge interstellar object aiming at Earth 'not natural,' says scientist NASA detected the interstellar object, dubbed 3I/ATLAS, traveling through our Solar System, sparking a flurry of scientific analysis to determine its origin.

You need to talk to a wider range of (more responsible) astronomers, @dailymail.co.uk. Avi Loeb is not a widely respected researcher, and he does not speak for the discipline. You're being taken for a ride and misinforming your readers in the process.

Every time – every single time – we have to click something away the internet becomes a lesser thing, humanity itself becomes smaller and dumber. Stop doing this. If you can't serve human beings first just go away.

You should feel bad if you do this. You should feel shame. Your visitors do not need or want to interact with your a) sales bot, b) newsletter signup, c) cookie notice, d) advertisement nonsense, they want to read the thing you're trying to hide from them.

Stop it.

If you operate a website and your website throws up crap in front of the thing the visitor wants to see you are doing websites wrong.

This is cool but in IMO people should not make HAT-type accessories that can't be properly stacked. This should have a full 40-pin GPIO header so it can be effectively stacked with other HATs.

> The invasion was not really about Ukraine

The invasion began in 2014, long before these missile discussions, and the reason it was begun then is the same reason it's being continued today: To achieve the permanent seizure of Ukraine.

Missiles are extremely expensive and drones are extremely cheap in comparison.

Ukraine is using both drones and AI to do things that cannot be done without them. If Ukraine could accomplish those objectives without buying drones or AI they would, but they can’t so they do.

When I began I was actually using a second right-handed mouse with my left hand; getting a mouse specifically for left hand use was a big help. But a fairly symmetric right handed mouse can still be used effectively with the left hand.

I guess I'd say that I stopped being occasionally frustrated within a couple months, and maybe by 6 months had near full capability? I think it's the daily use that did it - I'd find myself having (without thinking) used the right, then switch for a while. Eventually got pretty fluid.

I've known, as a matter of general knowledge, that brain plasticity does allow us to do things like this, but the actual process itself has been super interesting, watching as initial clumsiness and slowness became more or less equal performance with either hand.

A right-handed Logitech Lift mouse

A couple years ago I began having some carpal tunnel issues on my mouse hand (right), so I got a left-handed mouse to add to the right-handed one. And since then I've trained myself to use either hand for the mouse, spreading the strain and reducing the load on either hand.

The weird thing is that that goes away over time (if slowly) because each time you go through the "OMG-what-the-eff-is-going-on" Linux craziness you come out with a higher capability stat afterwards.

I did a quick chalk β€œLorax” on the front sidewalk and then went to water the gardens in the backyard. Came inside and looked out the front window to a family lining up 3yo triplets, wearing orange terrycloth dresses around The Lorax.
16yo: β€œYou SUMMONED them!!”

Yes, it was a couple days not eating late last week that prompted this visit. Senior cat, 16 or 17.

I'd give anything - ANYTHING at all - to be able to talk with my cat and ask her questions, explain things.
