Awesome Richard! Nice vibey track.

I started modular during covid times, and am around 250HP in. That Joranalogue gear you got is some of my favorite. Check out the local conventions, as they will visit with a full Joranalogue system. It's bliss to play on. :)

Last year we had a student create a game about 'what it feels like to be late for a bus and having to decide whether to sprint (and narrowly miss it) or giving up'

That resonated with me so hard. In public transport I'm either sitting waiting or sprinting like a madman with my huge backpack :)

Extremely low key and chill. Play around with all kinds of animals in a nice settings. We're not making a lot of progress, just swimming around mostly :)

Though it also pans out that I pick cozy games a lot these days. I enjoyed Naiad, Little Kitty Big City, or Short Hike so much, as I play them together with my kids. Saturday morning on the couch under a blanket is pure quality time :)

I am personally always interested in innovative game mechanics or playful systems. It's more compelling to me than a new compulsion loop or game narrative. So I pick my games mostly if they try new stuff in their core gameplay. Short loops = shorter play time.

I agree with your second point on playing "not quite good" games too. If it's not 'perfect' then it's easier to discuss what I would change, or how things could pan our differently. UFO50 is a great example for me, as it is a collection of really cool ideas, without being polished to death.

Yes good points. I think your first point of play time depends on the gameloops you're interested in researching. When you master a game you get a real good feel of the social mechanics and high level play, and how a game services a community for a long time. It's the long game loop in that case.

We shouldn't have to worry about losing progress in videogames.

I've seen the UX issues of saving and quitting in many games, and I think as an industry we can do better.

Please share this as wide as you can. I really want us to solve this for every future game!
