Transforming a scene via tracking the circumstances that create internal and external pressures on its characters (based on setting, other characters, physical states, past experiences, etc) in whatever medium can take a generic scene and make it specific and impactful.

We achieve some of it by narrative design resonance. That is, cohesive narrative choices across all aspects of the game that feel specific, deliberate, and consistent, but it won't do all the work if your moments still end up not feeling specific enough to the experience the player is having.

Narrative specificity is challenging in games that have any sort of player agency, as it should be, but a lack of it is I think one of the things that make people categorize game writing as "not good." Resonance is tied to specificity, and resonance is what makes you feel something.

This is an greatessay, and I felt very seen in my 'guess and check' style revision process.
