I really can’t emphasize enough that the queer community in this country stands so emphatically with the trans people among them. Institutionally. Personally. Collectively. At every turn I have felt active support from cis queer people. Nobody is buying this bullshit except opinion editors.

I have a lot of sympathy for folks, especially older ones, who lived in times when sexuality and gender identity were so tied up in culture they suffered traumatically. And the thread above addresses that illuminatingly.

But in addition: most folks who went through that came out MORE empathetic.

My gay, cis aunt is 83 years old and she is fighting for trans people every day. My gay, cis Godfather is 86 years old and he is fighting for trans people every day. They suffered unfathomable pain and trauma. They let it fuel the fire of their love for others.

Every time we were on the street in front of Children’s Hospital parents were outnumbered ten to one by adult members of the queer community. Many trans, many cis. Folks who were fighting for kids. For our family to be included in Pride (the abstract) is an extraordinary gift for us and the kids.

Literally every homosexual, young or old, man or woman, in my life is supportive of my trans kids, and I am grateful to them. Queerness is a common cause and as a straight cis dude I am so grateful for the community’s work on behalf of my kids. This LGB without the T dopes can suck a lemon.

She’d Never Changed Her Gender Marker. Kansas Invalidated Her License Anyway. — Assigned A trans Kansas resident recently changed her name but not her gender marker on her license, fearing what Kansas may do if she did. The Kansas DMV still flagged her ID.

This story, from @natezuke.bsky.social, is absolutely wild. A trans woman who never changed her gender marker was issued a letter invalidating her license. At the DMV they cut up her license, which had an "M" marker.

Anyway, wishing Campbell the best on this tough journey. We are so lucky to have him.

I am not particularly a member of the Campbell cult, and I was a little worried I'd mess up. What I found was that Bruce Campbell is about the most generous, pleasant, funny, delightful, charming human who exists on earth. There could be no messing up an interview with him.

When Hodgman came on The Sound of Young America the first time - 20 years ago - he immediately started sending his friends to me. Because he's that kind of guy. And Bruce Campbell was one of the first. Hodgman had been his literary agent, a job he got by writing Campbell a cold letter.

I’m a REAL sensitive dude. But I really try and keep this shit in mind, even when it’s hard. And it really helps to be grateful when someone in a difficult circumstance gives you grace rather than resentful when someone doesn’t have it to give.

Any “reasonableness” you get in that context is a gift of extraordinary generosity from someone who has to fight to breathe every day of their fucking life.

Trans people squad up and come hard at anyone who fucks with them online because it is not an exchange of ideas for them, it is their actual human lives and deepest identity and physical safety and right to citizenship.

“Unreasonable” criticism will come for anyone on any issue on the internet. It probably comes more frequently from the highly-traumatized and more-likely-neurodivergent corners. But the move is: evaluate why things matter so much and provoke strong reaction. Not pretend you’re in the victim club.

Anyway, some of these fragile dudes make a mistake, get criticized by someone and criticism victim becomes their whole personality. Jamelle is not that dude. To an extraordinary and creditable extent.

These guys desperately want to have anyone who a trans person has ever gotten mad at join their “the most important thing in the world is how unfair it is that a trans person was mad at us” squad. And actually some people are grownups? Who can distinguish individuals within larger groups?
