Storm Amy caused many cancellations in UK/ Ireland/Norway on International #parkrun Day yesterday, meaning global attendance was <300k for the first time since January. Following German Unity Day on Friday, Austria saw a new national record yesterday, and Germany a new Saturday high.

parkrun Germany held their extra Special Day parkruns this morning (German Unity Day), with a large number of international visitors in attendance, and set a new national record, with over 5,000 finishers on a single day for the first time. Friday is still the rarest parkrunday (just 14 times ever).

13 years ago today I did my first #parkrun, and it eventually became a habit.

There were just 176 events in 8 countries: UK+AF, DK, AU, PL, ZA, NZ and US. Daily finishers (most of which in UK) yet to pass 25,000. Now 2,263 events in 23 countries + 5 territories, record 390,750.

Correction: it's happened every month since Feb 2024 - Jan 2025 was the first time since COVID that all monthly records had been set in the previous 12 months (it was when the long-standing global record of 345,911 from 11 Jan 2020 finally fell).

True - in Nov 2023 it was the first time it had happened since COVID so definitely worth a mention, now it's occurred every month since Jan 2025...

parkrun Japan saw a new national record for the second weekend in a row, and the number of 'known' parkrunners passed 7 million, the last million coming in just 14 months. 2/2

Yesterday saw a new national #parkrun attendance record for Italy, while Denmark set a new record for a Saturday, equalling their overall record of 1,441 finishers set on Constitution Day in June 2023.

parkrun USA saw another new record turnout (their 5th in the last 3 months). The new Brooklyn Bridge parkrun proved to be a huge draw - 536 finishers was over 10% of national total, 2nd highest ever seen at a single event, and largest inaugural US attendance by some margin. 2/2

Global #parkrun attendance remains low compared to the start of the year (following the usual annual trend), however yesterday saw >300k finishers on a Sat in July for the first time ever. parkrun Canada set a new national record, 4 days after their extra parkrunday on Canada Day.

Yesterday saw a new record global #parkrun attendance record for June and a new national record for Canada, both for the second Saturday running. There was also a new Saturday record for Denmark, on the eve of the Bridge Run 2025 half marathon over the Øresund/Öresund Bridge.

Thanks to its five Saturdays and the two additional parkrundays, May was the best-attended month on record, although the Saturday average was slightly down from April. 3/3

Thanks to Ascension Day and Thanksgiving always falling on the same weekday, Thursday is the most common Additional parkrunday*, yet has the fewest participants. That will all change this Christmas! 2/3
