The little buttons and having to turn the lipstick part to the correct point before lifting it out does give very strong The Room vibes
I can write this game if someone else wants to do literally every other part of developing it
The lipstick part holds a single poison dart, the nail kit is a lock picking kit (obvs), the face powder is some kind of knockout drug, the little music box part can be used as a distraction
Why be inspired to make a videogame by some problematic film director or similar, when you could instead be inspired by a vanity compact that’s almost a century old!!
Now I just want to work on a game about a painfully chic woman in the early 1930s breaking into places and assassinating terrible people/stealing jewels using tricks and gadgets held by a compact like this
-The forbidden original face powder
(Don’t worry I won’t actually use the makeup)
-Nail kit that can also be removed and used as a cigarette holder
-There was once lipstick there
Mystery item is an early 1930s musical “camera-style” vanity compact which is also has a working musical component
Today’s trinket purchases (in accidentally dramatic lighting)
A dual ink pen
Small porcelain goose
Locally made earrings
Mystery item??
Playing Pokopia in a hotel bath feels like the most indulgent form of relaxation.
Stardew Valley has prepared me to absolutely dominate this.
If I had money I would definitely get into collecting antique miniature books
I need it.

If you'd like an interview or have me on a podcast or whatever, get in touch! I like doing that kind of thing.
This is what @robindlaws.bsky.social and I were hoping for with the tactical narrative system in Thousand Hells store.steampowered.com/news/app/379...
"I got my PhD by writing prompts instead of doing research, I'm winning"
got some bad news, there still no jobs and now you also know nothing
It’s unique to this particular game
Working on games is fun. Using the same system that in the same game you can use to battle monsters to instead track a footnote.
Currently writing a tactical scenario for a game where you have to find a lost book in a library and I’ve never felt more at home

Don’t know the details as I’ve only read this article on it, but it sure does sound like that
all will rise is handing back Microsoft money & pledging @nogamesforgenocide.com — it’s a difficult thing to do when funding and attention are scarce commodities for indies like us, but we hope more of our fellow devs and indie studios will join us in taking a stand 🔥

“Research shows that 100% of people think I’m cool.”
“Sample size of one person who was my mum who was given a tick box asking if I was cool”
Oh please.
If I was feeling particularly spicy and had some actual player data beyond “vibes” to back it up, I would maybe say there’s a potential gendered element in there somewhere
I just want to always dress like Frog & Toad, corduroy wearing icons
You can still be young and trendy AND have a sizeable collection of corduroy and knitwear.

Me: I’m still young and trendy.
Also me: *squeals with delight at the arrival of yet another pair of brown corduroy trousers I’ve bought.*
