Proud of our article, β€œBayesian Projection of Extant Refugee & Asylum Seeker Populations,” with Herb Susmann, just published in Demography.

A screenshot taken by someone on Twitter/X of Elon Musk agreeing with a tweet that shows the EU flag being peeled back to reveal a Nazi one. For Elon’s purposes here Nazis are apparently bad, but you can’t rely on that with him, of course.

The latest from an honored member of the Royal Society. Every week he attacks the foundations of society in the UK and the EU and @royalsociety.org is apparently too worried about retribution to do anything about it.

Preparing this talk gave me an opportunity to reflect on what lessons I've learned from psychology's replication crisis and credibility revolution, and what advice I would have for other fields. We've come a long way!

Will the raincloud plot gradually replace the box plot? It just might!

I think that the field needs to clean up the published literature a bit. Additional small studies are not going to move the needle at this point; maybe a couple of large-scale, pre-registered studies might provide more insight?

In mathematical psychology that happens on a regular basis; the work by Myung & Pitt is what drew me to Bayesian model comparisons.

I would also say that this argument holds for nested models only. Bayes factors allow the comparison of predictive performance for any two models.

A standard case where it's ambiguous is when the parameter space is discrete. How many different species of penguin are on island X?

I think it starts with the research question. If it calls for a BF answer, then a BF one ought to report. And priors on the nuisance parameters hardly matter, esp. if they are orthogonal.
