I have mixed feelings. There's a be careful what you wish for and a punching down problem.

But I agree that the extent to which folks blow sugar is linked to the quality issues in the field.

Also I am writing this as a break from grading actual physical bluebooks.

Happy to report student penmanship better than expected.

I've done a cost benefit analysis of AI on the back of this napkin here and it's 100x costs vs 1x benefits.

Math can't be wrong.

I'm a little confused but here's my best take: there's a good faith type defense to criminal contempt. And there are civil suits where QI is a defense. Both implicated here?

This was what I missed most about old twitter: following journalist reports of court hearing in real time. Thank you Ms. Bower! And the other journalists doing the same.

Also thinking about this: no journal in which I have actually published has ever asked me for a review!

I don't find it insulting, just super irritating. But also the "please review this 70 page article in 48 hours thx" is just insane.

US appeals court says law firm's size doesn't limit legal fees A federal appeals court on Tuesday ruled that a trial judge in California improperly slashed the hourly rates sought by a small law firm after it won an antitrust case, saying that a law firm’s size cannot be used to justify awarding lower fees.

In the US it's often a misdemeanor (as I understand it). How is it treated in the UK?

Very keen to hear why. On the due process grounds I think it is strong. Indeed, I can't see the due process case for warrantless detention without notice, certainly not indefinite detention with no notice & no hearing.

I love my RAs but they are mostly people I am training. I redo it all, but I like to help them learn. In terms of usefulness, I have had great luck with subciting or formatting tasks, they have found errors, corrected pincites, etc.
