I love the original Blacula but this sequel is *at least* as good and probably better.

SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

I've been working on an article about the Hammer Dracula films -- writing while I watched each. It was going well until I hit The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires. It's actually quite a good film. But I feel like it shouldn't be included. It doesn't really fit.

Why should you care about Dwain Esper? He directed films The Seventh Commandment (1932) where a medical student gets syphilis and Sex Madness (1934) about a former burlesque dancer with syphilis. Also: Marihuana (1936) where sex leads only to pregnancy!

Having watched all the Hammer Dracula films now, I'm struck that conventional wisdom is mostly wrong. Critics seem to have stopped liking the films when they started doing new things. But these films now stand out as excellent. The old ones? Kind of tired.
