Why Gas-Powered Data Centres Could Soon Be Coming To Britain Are UK data centres preparing to use gas-powered generators as a short-term energy fix? And what is the governmentโ€™s view on whether they should? N...

At @commonseac.parliament.uk we're launching an inquiry into the environmental impact of UK data centres, which seem likely to be gas-powered. Brits shouldn't have to face higher bills and accelerated climate change in Starmer's bid to become an โ€œAI superpowerโ€

โ€œNo reasonable person could convincingly argue that sexual predators are less of a risk to patient safety & trust in the profession than climate protesters, yet this is the inexplicable reality the GMCโ€™s failing regulatory processes have left us in.โ€

Our letter calling for urgent reform of medical regulatory proceedings in @theguardian.com today.

It cannot be right that doctors who peacefully protest about the climate catastrophe face harsher disciplinary action than doctors found to be sexual predators.

This is an absolutely shambolic decision by @gmcuk.bsky.social

Suspending a doctor that cares so deeply about protecting public health that he is willing to risk his personal & professional freedoms helps no one and harms everyone.

Each fraction of a degree of warming brings devastating health consequences - from life-threatening extreme weather events to the transmission of infectious diseases in previously unaffected areas.

Action today is critical to secure a thriving future.

Today Dr Patrick Hart, practicing GP, was imprisoned for 12 months for engaging in legitimate climate protest.

But the fire in our hearts and our bellies just grows stronger for justice.

The first practicing doctor to be imprisoned for climate protest.

Heโ€™ll then likely face suspension or worse from @gmcuk.bsky.social who remain intransigent in their determination to suspend doctors for peaceful protests.

Who on Earth does this serve?

It helps no one and harms everyone.
