HGGQ 1/144 Police Zaku action pose

Here’s a quick action shot. A bit scary trying to pose the legs on this one but its articulation is still pretty good!

A fellow Blueskier is seeking advice from other artists here. Figured I'd share this wider as it's something I struggle with as well when it comes to learning and growing.

I've heard you should try to devote time to whatever it is every day, but that's easier said than done!

What works for you?

Yeah, I'm really fond of the protective bars around those tanks, which are visually interesting and also bring to mind bull/grille guards on heavy duty work vehicles. Wrapping the decals around them was less interesting, however. 😅

Thank you! And yeah, so far they're 2 for 2 in terms of excellence. Might go for the Red Gundam or Light-Type Guncannon as my next GQ build.

Finished my HGGQ Police Zaku today!

Really unique build; these GQuuuuuuX kits continue to be a refreshing change from a lot of the more “standard” (but still cool, of course!) kits I’ve worked on this year.

This also didn’t need much color correction. Mostly just the thrusters.

Calves and feet done. The thigh/hip sections looks pretty crazy! Hopefully I survive the decal application. 😬

It’s coming along! Just have the legs and weapons to go. Only color correction I’ve done so far has been on the thrusters. With any luck, should be finishing it up by the end of this weekend!

Right arm assembly done. The white wrap decal on the upper arm gave me some trouble, but I got it on as best I could. Really like the additional detail and pop the G-Rework water slides give this in general though!

Latest progress. Been having some family health stuff going on recently, so I haven’t had time to work on this again until today. This hobby does really help get my mind off of things that give me anxiety, so I’m very thankful for it (and for all of you who continue to inspire me with your work!). ❤️

Yeah, things just keep on getting more expensive, sadly. I’ve had to say no to several sets I’ve been interested in, especially in recent years. I don’t expect things to get better anytime soon, but this one I definitely had to get.

HG GQ Police Zaku head assembly

Just getting started and finished the head tonight.

Used metallic paint for the eye instead of the sticker and started with the G-Rework water slides.

First impression: I think they’re slightly thinner than the Delpis, making them a little harder to work with, but still better than the Bandais.

The first save point in the area after the tutorial. 😂🤣 I have a WAYS to go!

Yeah, I have a pretty light trigger finger to begin with (and sore hands to go along with it 😅), and I spray from about a foot away, so this hasn't been an issue for me yet. That being said, the nozzles on the Tamiya and Mr. Hobby are super-nice to use!

Oh, and I *did* use the sticker for the red stripe on its left arm. The sticker had a more realistic, duller red color vs. the bright Delpi, so I opted for Bandai's version instead.
