One of my dreams was to buy a white house with a view of the ocean after I retired and play games all day. I'm starting to do that now. First of all, I'll play Final Fantasy, but I also want to play Mario World and Sim Earth. I need a CRT TV."

Holy shit, this is huge. Cream Lemon is important to the entire medium of anime, so many people who would go on to make great things cut their teeth on this one
Also, to echo everyone: yes, Pop Chaser is really that good
dungeon meshi, too. one of the biggest shows for western fans in the past few years, and no discs!
03.03.2026 23:19 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0this game was mind-blowing at the time! the insane built-in roster, the massive amount of match types, the great caw system that manages to get uncanny likenesses from tiny little sprites. and it felt so much better to play than any other wrestling game i'd ever seen!

It's clear the translators (and possibly the original writers) had fun with these games, at least.

a similar gizmo was released for the game boy/color in the pokemon era. i can't remember who made it, and i only ever saw it advertised by mail order companies in uk magazines.
they sold it as "game boy memory card"

I don't mean to spam (post more than once a day) but I just keep finding cool shit I didn't know about. Today's is the Famicom StudyBox, a peripheral for loading NES edutainment games via cassettes. There's one where a talking (on NES!) dog named Johnny teaches you English. buyee.jp/mercari/item...
