A precious and rare review of that first gig. It mentions the two support acts to The Thompson Twins, the Sisters and Able Kars who both seemed to fail to engage the audience. "Maybe Sisters of Mercy opened up a bit gloomily, suitably bleak and industrial, featuring the mandatory drum machine."

On this day, forty five years ago, The Sisters of Mercy performed their first ever gig at the University of York.
