Two pieces of digital art, which are fake Tinder screenshots of two imaginary user profiles. The UI has been entirely redrawn in the somewhat-sketchy style of the art used in the profile pictures. The screenshots are for profiles belonging to Kay, 31, who is a young man with a mustache and black hair, and for Elaine, 30, a curvy plus size blonde woman with red lipstick, who is holding the end of a leash leading upwards offscreen.

It feels very alienating to see fellow artists reducing their work to how many likes it gets! or getting mad that people unfollowed their socials because they were posting sad guilt trippy posts all the time about their lack of engagement! very disheartening :(

Unfortunately I see this in actual artists as well in a different way. It's especially bad on Threads and most of why I stopped engaging with the Threads art community. There is a hyper obsession with engagement and external validation that gets really aggressive and even hostile at times :/

also like. the art you make when you're learning is still art. it might not look like you want it to look but it's still art. like. congrats, you're an artist. they don't seem to grasp this lol
