Setting up a wood window workshop in New England. I also enjoy bagpipes, local politics, urbanism, craftsmanship of any kind, specialty coffee and tea, family, community and beekeeping 🐝. My day job is irrelevant πŸ˜„

Successful first steam bending test. This is for a bowed storm window commission, to match these restored pieces.

Demonstration window assembled. Deciding whether or not to make the muntins (bars in the middle that will hold the glass) thinner or leave as is.

I also really enjoy seeing the difference between a true divided lite vs simulated divided lite. It makes a really big difference to me.

This is probably the 5th time this year already in reorganizing the workshop 🀣 I think it's a good sign that I'm in there enough that I'm learning a better workflow. Or maybe I'm just getting rid of stuff I shouldn't be storing for no reason πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ

Does anyone else feel like the first 3 years of your woodworking journey is just moving stuff around in your workshop over and over again until you learn what setup works best? I feel like I've barely done any woodworking in comparison to all the cleaning and organizing I've done πŸ˜…

It's been a long winter, but we're almost all setup in the workshop to make windows. Until then, I need to finish restoring this door and giving it new life.

The "sash factory" has arrived. The workshop is nearly complete with everything we need to make historic reproduction window sashes.

This pallet also included a lot of the window sashes I made while learning from Steve Quillion at Wood Window Makeover. I'm glad it all made it up from Florida.

How do you lift an object that's too heavy for two people? You ask a neighbor for advice, who then tells you to crib it up 1.5" at a time. Then use lift straps over to the base. Genius πŸ˜„

We're almost up and running in the woodworking shop. The wood windows are so close!

To new beginnings and new mistakes. Happy new year.

Lead paint stripping on an old solid wood door is quite the task. Not for the faint of heart.

Door hardware that looks like a picture of the Loch-Ness creature.

I was removing hardware in my first full door restoration, and happened upon the [Lock]-ness monster. I didn't realize the creature lived under all this lead paint.

Who needs blueprints when you have a gingerbread mock-up of a backyard cottage you want to build. Should the real thing have Skittles or M&Ms? πŸ€”

Wood window makeover workshop with Steve Quillion. Class displays their window sash projects.

Such a good woodworking class learning how to make wood window sashes. We had a daily buildup of new skills from window screens, storms and all the way up to divided lite double hung sashes. It was also really fun working with such fun and talented people. #woodwindow #woodworking @woodwindowmakover

As a designer, I'm always so appreciative of the small designs people made in something so small. Not needing a second wrench or tool to hold the other side was πŸ‘ŒπŸ½

Six individuals showing off their hard work of wooden window sashes that they made in the wood window makeover workshop in Tampa Florida.

Do you know how to make wood window sashes? What's one thing you wish you knew before making them?

This is me and the class at Steve Quillion's Wood Window Makeover workshop. Wicked good class to learn window craft. #woodworking #windows
