An airstrip was already built to bring in luxury jets. The development will impact sea turtles and #gianttortoises on Assomption, but most critically, it will threaten ecological integrity of #Aldabra, likely the most pristine island left on 🌍 with no ability to enforce biosafety precautions. 3/4
...and irresponsibly disrupted nesting beaches for green and hawksbill turtles (EN & CR) with lights and new structures, despite EIA and watchful locals. Now, another luxury hotel is being developed on #Assomption, where nobody can watch to make sure EIA is heeded. 2/4

When @ipbes.bsky.social listed climate change as one of the top five drivers of biodiversity loss, this is why. These are intertwined crises, and we *have* to solve them both.
We all have that one friend who finds out about THE climate solution. Regen grazing, planting trees, going vegan, nuclear energy... there is no ONE solution, but there are priorities. @projectdrawdown.bsky.social is great for understanding how we should prioritize the MANY solutions we need to use.
