A Leatherman's tool might be handy for leather-working, but it's named for engineer & company founder Timothy S. Leatherman.

He came up with the idea of "a Boy Scout knife, but with pliers" while doing repairs on his rental car while on vacation in Europe in 1975 with his wife Chau.

Sometime during my undergrad years, toku went from "hokey nonsense" to "actually rather charming, with a nice tactility to the miniatures, suits, and puppets and some impressive fight choreography."
