How do you personally reconcile Buddhism's view of the world as illusory (maya) and the goal is to escape through nirvana with Taosim's view that the Tao is real, in fact everything, and living in the Tao leads to immortality?

The Yule cat (Icelandic: Jólakötturinn) is a huge and vicious cat from Icelandic Christmas folklore that is said to lurk in the snowy countryside during the Christmas season and eat people who do not receive new clothing before Christmas Eve.
Morning rush hour at the cat door.

Hope the neighbors appreciate me giving the neighborhood an Amsterdam vibe.
I have no proof, but I absolutely believe that for every second I spend walking a new place, I extend my life by that amount of time.

"Three vinegar tasters."
Confucius finds the vinegar's gone sour. Siddhartha Gautama finds it always bitter.
Lao Tzu smiles because the vinegar tastes exactly as it should. Sometimes it's a good complement to food and sometimes it's not. We should accept all things in their nature in balance.
I hear ya. I was a long time APUSH, Econ, and other Humanities teacher in Dallas and was leery of social media. I'm now retired and a writer, so I am dipping my toe in the murky waters, though BlueSkies (don't want to shorten it to BS) seems a clearer pool.

Got both of these stands off the curb, cleaned them up, and the clowder approves!
At hardware store today:
Me: I need a couple of masonry screws.
Clerk (showing me array): How long you need them?
Me: I suspect until I sell the house or die, unless you got a special rental program I'm open to hearing about.
Long cold stare from clerk.
