British Rail : Principal Passenger Network : poster map : March 1976. Still one of my favourite posters; the brilliantly bold map of British Rail's Principal Passenger Network this example issued in March 1976. The design is that by Bernard Slatter of BR's Central Advertising Services and published by the British Railways Board.

The outline of the UK and eastern Ireland is in white (Éire in grey) and showing in red lines the geographical Principal Passenger railway lines and stations. The sea is in blue/turquoise and shows BR's major ferry services. The top banner is in Rail red with the BR double arrow logo and "Passenger Network" ranged right.

Still one of my favourites : March 1976 British Rail "Principal Passenger Network" poster map that, for years, graced my bedroom wall! The map design will be by Bernard Slatter of BR CAS - overall it just looks so bold, so clear & so cleanly corporate. @doublearrow64.bsky.social

One beer, bed, then back on duty – the British pilot who made RAF history shooting down drones F-35 pilot based in Cyprus becomes first to destroy a target in combat – and celebrates with a single beer

I could also well do without war fanboy puff pieces like this from the Guardian: www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

A narrow contemporary street with 3 and 4 storey dwellings, a home zone where drivers are guests and lush greenery everywhere. An older person cycles along in the middle-distance as they pass covered cycle parking to the left.

Some 2.8km south-west of the centre of Freiburg im Breisgaum in the south-west corner of Germany, the Vauban neighbourhood is a living example of a low-car suburb. People-focussed design, SuDS and a tram spur make for wonderful, low traffic streets.
