Still bums me out that the reason Topol (who did a wonderful job in the movie!) played Tevye in the movie and not Zero Mostel, who opened the role on Broadway and defined the part, was because he was blacklisted by the McCarthy BS. No way the Empire holds across years of occupying the Federation, though. Too fragile to handle such a fractious and creative collection of societies. Insurgencies are, by their nature, decentralized, and we've seen how poorly the Empire deals with them, even without space wizards.

Weren't Star Destroyers more of a fleet weapon? I guess the bigger question is if the Federation could field a large enough fleet to take on the SDs, plus their cruisers and support wings of fighters. IIRC, the Federation did so towards the end of DS9, so it's possible.

I'm still waiting for the shoe to drop on Last Week Tonight, but also, he's basically been daring them to cancel him for the last two or three mergers, so I'm sure he'll get the axe -- when, not if. ... And then I'll finally cancel my HBO sub, because they have little else unique & easily available.
