Upcoming Documentary: Wild Teesdale - A Journey Through the Seasons
A few scenes from my upcoming nature documentary. Set in Teesdale in the North Pennines, the film will take the viewer on a journey through the seasons, meeting some of the wildlife and highlighting how natural forces and of course humans have shaped this landscape. youtu.be/IbZs_tqZ_3M?...

Aye - but maybe some interesting cloud effects to come over the next few days as the high pressure block dissipates?π€

Yes, that was a very odd effect, given that I was removing a sort of blemishπ€¦ββοΈ I saw a Helm Cap sitting on Cross Fell and its neighbours one day, but otherwise weβve just had blanket blue skies for what seems like weeks, so a bit of a fallow period for me, photographicallyβΉοΈ

The river bed of the River Caldew in Cumbria yesterday. The flow of water has simply stopped, revealing its limestone bedrock -just like the clints and grykes characteristic of a limestone pavement. This is a river which is regularly in spate in the wetter months, when it can be quite destructive But it is very sad to see it in this emaciated state. The trees in the background are still green, but they too will suffer if we don't get some decent rainfall soon.
The River Caldew in Cumbria yesterday. Very unusual to see the bedrock exposed like this - very, very worrying. And it's only halfway though May...π #drought #LakeDistrict #Cumbria

In the foreground the texture of the limestone pavement is highlighted by glancing rays of warm sunlight. In the distance you can see the slopes of Wild Boar Fell, still under a blanket of cloud. A blissfully peaceful part of the superb walking country that is the Westmorland Dales.

Our local herd of fell ponies on Helton Fell on Sunday morning. Could this be the first photographic record of a monkey riding on horseback in the Lake District, or is it evidence that Adobeβs AI powered βGenerative Removeβ has a sense of humour?
The second photo shows what the image looked like before I asked it to remove the distracting pair of ears in the background. Iβve no idea where it got the monkey from - I wonder if anyone else has experienced similar failures of artificial intelligence?
Monkey On My Backβ - look closely and compare the two. See Alt text for the amusing (i think) back-story.

A bird in flight cruises above the River Lowther, the surface of the water wreathed in steaming mist. A leafless tree on the right acts as a frame, while in the background clouds of mist burn off in the warm light of the rising sun.

Late evening sun warming what is arguably Long Meg's biggest daughter - one of the main megalith's in Long Meg and her Daughters stone circle, near Glassonby in Cumbria. Meg herself sits in the lush grass outside of the circle and can be seen on the far right watching over her children. Pic from last Tuesday -one of the many glorious blue sky days we have had recently.

Early morning on the River Lowther shortly after sunrise this morning. A light frost garnishes the grass on the river bank, with a lone tree set against a back drop of mist, warmed by the rising sun. A pair of geese honking loudly as they fly overhead, then silence returned.
