Arendt was absolutely right about how reactionaries promote mediocre but loyal people, but there's still a minimum competence level needed, and Goodwin demonstrably doesn't meet it.

Goodwin's career has been defined by the fact that he isn't very good at the things he turns his hands to, even in the easy-mode world of the right. He's completely unable to either give up and get a real job or become good enough at the things he wants to do.
