I did a big catch up last year on many S&S I’d let slip past me. Sword and the Sorcerer, Beastmaster, Hawk the Slayer, She and Dragonslayer. Fun times!
I'm glad it wasn't a live reboot. I'm pretty certain it wouldn't capture much of what made the original so well regarded. An animated series is a much better compromise/way forward
Trying to move through my games backlog, next up is a short puzzle game—Old Man’s Journey
If you enjoy the series, they do a subscription so you get them every month a week before release. Plus the extra bits seen in the above photo
Awesome cover. Found one on ebay in decent condition after you posted this, for a fiver.
Superb!
It is not, but here you go!
March Tales of the Weird subscription drop from @blpublishing.bsky.social has arrived

Congrats. I did feel guilty for backing out, but smashed it anyway
“‘arold? You gotta ‘elp me ‘arold”
That’s quite the combo
Ah, so one of the crew gets killed in the pilot seat of their ship by a giant spar whilst escaping a space prison through a hole they dug out?
Getting Mother’s Day chocolates in B&M, the woman at the checkout was incredibly upbeat and cheerful for 8.30am. I’ve only had two coffees and can barely crack a smile at this time of the morning!!
That 10 second mega panic when you think you’ve left your wallet in the bus as it pulls away…
Post credits indicated a “True Boss”
Went and beat him, so now I’m finished. Except… now there’s an “Ultimate Trial that unlocks!
Do games ever end these days??
Game completion #3 for this year
Minishoot Adventures (100%)
“Bullet Hell Zelda” is about right. An excellent game, with the only real criticism is that I wanted it to carry on. A short, but well stacked and beautifully crafted game with lots of exploration

I've largely exhausted Hard City. I'll look into the other one, thanks
I keep meaning to ask, do you know of any good resources for noir/hard boiled/investigative style rpgs? I'm running a lite-rules one and whilst it's been OK (I think), sometimes I need inspiration to draw from for each scenario
Nearly done with the gothic crime classic that is Castle Skull, but now I need something more hard boiled for inspiration.
To The Continental Op!
Added to my next book order
It is is surprising to see how many films get discontinued in standard UK blu ray and suddenly hike up in price for import copies or 2nd-hand. I watched Big Trouble in Little China today, but that's DVD only. Same with some of the Ray Harryhausen films
I did!
Not right now, but I’ve had intermittent issues this week
@fantasybooknerd.bsky.social @voxparlour.bsky.social Would Andy’s book be of interest to you? It’s not my sort of music, but I feel it might be up either of your streets.
I do love that film. Another one that’s hard to get though
Not sure I can put myself through it a second time. New amiibos though…
I just grab the ebooks when I have an urge to read a Doc Savage book, although I do occasionally keep an eye for physical copies on ebay - a rarity in the UK. I also enjoy reading Will Murray's Wild Adventures on occasion
Tonight’s #film is a rewatch of a pulp classic. No UK Blu-ray available though, but I have it on DVD at least
This morning it was Harry Harrison, tonight apparently #booksky is celebrating Lester Dent, aka Kenneth Robeson
I don’t have a lot of Doc Savage stuff, but here is what Lester Dent stuff I do own, plus a book he’s an actual character in!

My games backlog is competing with my books tbr. I must have over 200 games now in my Switch library. One day…
