The Last Pebble, by Alex Horne. (Kids book for 9-11).
It's just really really sweet, and has a desperately charming weird-kid protagonist.

07.08.2025 16:06 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Today, as a one-off, Iβm doing a supposed βgreatest hitsβ of my 20 yearsβ solo shows. If there are any old bits of mine you liked, please do remind me of them here. This is not a fishing for praise thing; it is genuinely difficult to remember any of my standup pre about 2018, haha.

07.08.2025 15:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Now you have three ways of telling what the weather will be! Success.

Have a lovely time with the books, Vivs.
I have another #buyastrangerabook day offer to tell you about.
@octopody.bsky.social is offering to buy someone a copy of Mark Watson's new novel "One Minute Away".
If you'd like it, get in touch!

That's just a charcuterie board in a different shape.
29.07.2025 20:36 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Did that this year, actually, as I left the US. Sleeper trains across the continent, and then the ocean liner to England.
Took ages but really enjoyed it. Shame most folks don't have the time.
10 years. 95 contestants. 1 Taskmaster. π

10 years, 19 seasons (with 20 and 21 on the way) and a lot of comedians doing ridiculous things for our enjoyment.
Happy 10th Anniversary, @taskmaster.tv
This is by far the cutest thing ever! πππ
To have been able to find the essences of SO MANY contestants and boil them down to such tiny versions is absolutely incredible.
I adore how delighted and proud the full sized Alex and Greg are, and I am the most entertained by Alex covered in flour, etc.
Happy 10 Year Anniversary, Taskmaster!
Look at how you've grown π
Illustration of Alex Horne lying in a giant (or is he small) bowl of ramen. There's noodles, mushrooms, and half an egg. The colours are orange, pink, and brown. Alex, topless and obscured by the soup, looks up at us as he holds a pen and notebook. #alexhorne #fanart #ramen #maybeIshouldn'thavesharedthisone
One of my faves. But what if it were soup?

Thank you.
I half-assed it! There was a whole other hemi-arse that I didn't apply to it. Fifty percent of a backside yet to deploy.

I think I got the exact temperature (5Β°C) with exactly the wrong date?
Please don't dock me (imaginary) points for having the wrong working ππ
What about the Trapdoor theme? Or Gummy Bears? Round the Twist? The Ewoks? Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors? The Herb Garden?
24.07.2025 20:46 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ooh yeah. I remember that - for One Minute Away!
I hope you hear back soon, TK.

It's actually a made up band name taken from a 1968 sexy comedy sci-fi film based on a French comicbook.
The twist is, they took the made up name from that and made a real band with it.
(Seriously, there's a rogue scientist in the film called Durand Durand. And they sang "Electric Barbarella").
cropped version of a photograph showing Mark Watson leaning against a pale brick wall. On the right is a list of what appears to be filenames. Mostly _2024_ is visible on all of them, with the hint of other numbers following. The last one shows a fragment "attcrocket"

(Also I hope you had fun on the drums! Maybe for OMA?)
I'm sorry if this is already answered somewhere else, but what influences bookshop purchasers for how many they order in?
Is it based on pre-orders? Some kind of industry insider previews? Specific genre experts within something as big as Waterstones?
So sorry they didn't buy in more. Crushing.
Ooooh, that's a good find with the article. Nuts. I've lost confidence in my guess now. "...wintery and beautiful"
