Thanks for that Matt, it had never even crossed my mind. I did notice some difference in the bill colouration but I never thought of putting 2 & 2 together
Oh, that’s the time I screenshot it from ebird. I saw these around 2:30pm
My thought being the Mrs would be on rightmove around about now if she saw this in the garden
Rubbish pic of them but if I remember rightly they numbered around 20. Along with the Lesser black backs who seem to have made a home here
Thank you Dawn. Twitching by train certainly makes the experience more ‘interesting’ ☺️
You would think so. Thanks Mac, appreciate that. I’ll have another look in morning.
Still a good mix of Wigeon, teal and shoveler in the swine bank flood patch
No sign unfortunately
Think I’ll have to pay a visit shortly. Thanks for the tip 😊
Thanks Alan
Strangely, although these are closer it would still be easier for me to get to thornton-le-dale on public transport
Thornton-le-dale was was the destination, Dipper was the bird atop the list of hopefuls, Nuthatch always appreciated due the seemingly distinct lack of them in East Yorkshire

Yesterday saw the 1st chiffchaff of the year at North cave wetlands.
An Avocet and a pair of Mediterranean gulls amongst the other more notable sightings of the day

First three today at North cave wetlands.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a local garden.
Well, i thought so too 😄
Temptation got the better of me yesterday and i took a tour of the Northern train companies whilst visit Blyth and Leeds to see there amongst others

Thanks Alan. It seems to like its accommodation this year, not giving up for no one 😁
Weekend trips to Filey, Bempton and North cave wetlands.
Got my Purple sandpiper fix, a pair of grey partridge at exactly the same place i saw some two years ago and a solitary raven on Bempton farmland

Beautiful
Nice to see such variety down there at this time. Bullfinch seem to be quite a regular down there.
Thank you
Cracking gull. I’ve been thinking about going on the train for the last week or so.
They’re definitely in the top 10 ☺️
I couldn’t possibly choose a favourite amongst waders
Another trip to the North Yorkshire coast saw me finally break my Sanderling (wader) duck for the year. Plus i got to enjoy the Purple sands again. Never gets tiring

Great days birding yesterday at The Outstrays. Six species of geese, endless waders, harriers and short-eared. Topped of with a lovely Scaup pair.
Sorry to hear they’d moved on. I think i found them at the outstrays yesterday ☺️
Well its got to be a worth a look. Even if it’s only to hear the wigeon. They always lift my mood
I’ll take that. Cheers Mac
