I was having fun writing harmonies, and then I’ve realized I might have to write a new piano part because the one I wrote in the solo arrangement is basically a reduction of the other voice parts

…stuff like this makes me glad I didn’t major in music

…how do I write tenor and bass parts in a choir arrangement that’s not just building chords on every eighth note and is actually singable in the language I’m composing in

Tbh the melody is already in an alto range since I arranged it for my voice in a solo arrangement. It’s probably easiest to keep the melody as written anyway

Watch my music theory knowledge go out the window the moment I actually have to apply it again ToT

I’m writing a choir arrangement (as requested by my old choir director), but I’m trying to give altos the melody. Can I do it? Idk, we’ll see

Sopranos might have to sing a bit high since I can’t lower the key without the lowest note dipping outside the recommended alto range

This reminded me of a snippet I drafted about Sethos having a drunk breakdown 😭 (labeled with a warning because it’s a spoiler for a fic I haven’t posted yet)

of the Japanese recordings matched the vibe of the story and felt more in-context, though.

Overall, I thought the music was beautiful, and it’s probably something I’m gonna come back and listen to again

I don’t think there’s a recording of the full show so I can’t comment on the visual parts, but knowing the source material helped me place context on the songs (and made the last song more impactful).

YLIA was one of my favorite animes when I was younger and I love musicals, so I had to check out the soundtrack.

The soundtrack is gorgeous. I love how they kept the classical music influences in the soundtrack, because that’s one of the things that drew me to the anime.
