So... possible legit use for blockchain against AI? Real photographers and videographers document real events and put the media file hash on a blockchain, immutably datestamped to at least prove the file existed at the right time. Reactive after-a-crisis AI slop will not be able to prove existence.

Full Athena arcade World Of Forest map from probably VGMaps ~2017; the basis for the NES map recreation PoC.

I should note the map is based on a probably data-dump-based full map of Arcade world 1, NOT the NES version. I know I wrote tools to find unique tiles/blocks, and re-pack the hand-thinned tileset for NES. I think I structured the PoC by room, with the vertical fall being room 0/undefined.

I wish I could just bsky-drop a MP3 or MIDI. I also have a rewrite of the stage 1 BGM to use all 3 tonal channels (I think the official game uses 2 tonal channels and hard-reserves 1 for sound effects) and also be scored like videogame looping BGM not some kid's one-off piano recital selection.

spritework reduction concept for what NES Athena could have been. Lower/blue space is palette concepting and compositing somtimes over the original arcade art. White+gray looks like "finished" NES tiles, but only the white box would fit in the NES CHR bank at one time. I think at a minimum the bottom 24px (3 16px rows) of the white box would need to be bankswappable to only the immediately relevant enemy & powerup sprites, and/or the weapon sprites would need to be jiggled into their own quarter-bank for easier swap. Orrrr we begin discussing CHR RAM and soak a bunch of CPU on weapon change & powerup reveal.

More archival rummage, yeah, the re-spriting concept was pretty far along knocking the arcade spriteset down to 4 NESable palettes but pretty far to go rough-packing into the available CHR tilespace (white box). A mapper would def be needed, but I think it could be done.

It's a shame how half-baked the NES port is. I started a PoC years back proving out (in NES assembly) that the maps could look far better and getting a start on the sprites, but then SNK did some rereleases of their own and I decided it was not the best time to touch the IP without permission :P
