Gun Violence Data Hub recorded 2,332 shootings within 500 yards of Detroit schools from 2015-24.

It'll help council identify overassessed properties and recommend them to be appealed with board of review. But time is running out. Deadline for appeals is Feb. 22 and the report still isn't finished as of this morning.
Also important here: Council is soon to obtain a study on Detroit assessments that could finally resolve a dispute between Duggan admin and UC researchers about whether systemic overtaxation is still occurring.
Detroiters surveyed by city put a high priority on housing investments for upcoming budget year. This includes heavy demand for home repair grants and AFFORDABLE HOUSING.
Neighborhood rebuilding (tree + sidewalk maintenance, street cleaning, lighting, amenities) also ranked high.
