I received it a few days ago. It is not so easy for me to read books in English (my English ability is poor) but this book is so enjoyable for me and actually I'm enjoying. Thank you.

先日届きました。英語の書籍を読むのは英語力が高くない私には必ずしも簡単ではありませんが、これは面白い。楽しませてもらってます。

I received a book of an English Manga created by Jem Yoshioka ( @jemyoshioka.bsky.social ). Its subject matter is YOKAI (Japanese folklore monster). It is familiar for me as a Japanese. Not only this, it is interesting story.
英語の漫画を入手しました。作者はジェム・ヨシオカさん。日本の妖怪を題材にした漫画です。馴染みやすいだけではなく、ストーリーも面白いです。

最初の四小節で腱鞘炎になりそうです♪(♭￣ω￣;♪)♯

画面からエネルギーがほとばしっていて、鮮烈な印象を与えます。グラデーションや色のぼかしを使っていないにも関わらず、この「質感」の表現の豊かさはほとんどプロの所業ではあるまいかと思わせます。モノクロの段階の入念な作り込みがここに反映されている気がします。

私は「音楽体験」で、そういうことに平行するような経験はあるだろうか？と思ったのですが、私は作曲(←というよりも「錯曲」)をわりと好んで行うタイプです。他の人の音楽とか有名作曲家(←こちらは決して「錯曲家」ではない)の音楽とかに対してもついつい分析的な聴き方になってしまいがちで、純粋な鑑賞者の立場になることがあまり多くない気がしてしまいます。

Korean has three kinds of words to express "octopus", i.e., "nakcchi"(낙지), "muneo"(문어) and "cchukkumi"(쭈꾸미). I have not learned how to distinguish them exactly.
I would like to ask Korean how to distinguish above them.

Today (2025-10-6 in Gregorian calendar) is the day of Mid-Autumn Festival or Moon Festival, which is a harvest festival on the 15th day of the 8th month in lunisolar calendar. It originated in China and spread to Japan (called "Tsukimi,(月見(つきみ))") and Korea (called "Chuseok(추석(秋夕))").

音楽の例だと、ベルリオーズの「幻想交響曲」というのがあります。
作曲者のベルリオーズが、ある女性に失恋した実体験を管弦楽の音楽で表現した作品です。そこでは、恋人とのなれそめ、交際、不安が表現され、そして失恋のショックは、「自分が断頭台にかけられ、あの世では醜く変貌した元恋人が魔女と踊っている…そんな夢を見る」という描写になっています。元彼女を音楽で徹底的に汚(けが)すのです。しかしながら、この曲はベルリオーズの最大傑作とされています。

ちなみに、「高等霊長類を観察するのに個体に名前をつける」を最初にやったのは、確か、宮崎県幸島のニホンザル研究を始めた京都大学霊長類研究所の人じゃなかったでしたっけ？それまで、霊長類の観察というと、「集団」として捉えがちだったのが、一匹一匹の個体の振る舞い、さらには「個性」に注目するようになり、霊長類研究がより緻密になったというような話を聞いたことがあります。

「霊長目ヒト科」というと、数十年前は文字通り「人間」だけを意味するグループだったのですが、今では、ヒトだけではなく、オランウータン・ゴリラ・チンパンジーも「ヒト科」に含めるのが普通になっています。ゴリラやチンパンジーなどが、従来考えられていたよりも遺伝子的にも行動的にもずっと人類に近いことがわかってきたからでしょう。グドールの成果もその中に組み込まれているに違いありません。
