A bit of π around the Clent. Love to walk the hills and mountains. Often using bins and a scope. No camera, so all bad photos through a scope.

11.08.2025 06:28 β π 9 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0yes.
18.07.2025 08:56 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It dropped back into the reeds, so itβs still in the same area.
18.07.2025 08:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0we did say hi. No hobby but I was here Wednesday and one was around then.
18.07.2025 08:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I know. I passed you. You were walking across the top causeway when it flew.
18.07.2025 07:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Bittern just flew out of the reeds at Grimley CLP. #worcsbirds
18.07.2025 07:37 β π 10 π 0 π¬ 3 π 0I was there last week and apart from a family party of Green Woodpeckers, I didnβt see anything of interest from the road arch to the weir. Not even butterflies. Every year that I go to see the Nightingales, I think due to lack of management, this could be the last year.
17.07.2025 20:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0No water here until at least 12, so I may give it a go.
16.07.2025 07:29 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Bloody annoying as I was going to try Grimley on the way down.
16.07.2025 07:19 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Is that now Gert? Iβm at Slimbridge and theyβre closed due to a lack of water (you couldnβt make it!)

@staffs-birds.bsky.social @mercianbirding.bsky.social
Only two were reported on the site x feed but deffo 3 and looked a little too big to be predated by gulls.
05.07.2025 08:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0There were 3 Redshank chicks together yesterday morning. First Iβve seen there this year.
05.07.2025 08:13 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Very nice summer plumaged Black-tailed Godwit currently on West Scrape @RSPBMiddleton @staffsbirdnews.bsky.social
04.07.2025 07:10 β π 10 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0I seem to be doing well this year in my garden for butterflies and day flying moths. Several Painted Ladies and Hummingbird Hawk-moths seen so far this year. This one currently on the lavender @bc-westmids.bsky.social
01.07.2025 15:03 β π 13 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Early morning visit to @RSPBMiddleton. Nothing unusual other than a Green Sandpiper flushed from the mud under the bird feeders near the car park. Decent number of juvenile LRP at all stages from just hatched to fledged. Also at least three very young Lapwing and solitary Hare.
27.06.2025 15:19 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A 3 Garganey day at Slimbridge. Also 2 Spotted Redshanks and Blackwits in summer plumage, juv Spoonbill and 3 Green Sands.
24.06.2025 15:34 β π 7 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0There were spot fly near the WW on DML although I didnβt see them last week. The WW was on the Shrop side of the brook near the footbridge closest to the beaver enclosure.
23.06.2025 17:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I had a WW calling last week near to the beaver enclosure. Not in full song, so hopefully paired up.
23.06.2025 14:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0No, nothing.
16.06.2025 15:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Saw this one roosting Tuesday at Slimbridge and Iβve also seen them at the back of Walton Hill, Clent. Like you, I thought a little early. Must be the good weather.
14.06.2025 20:19 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Saw several Small Tortoiseshell at Middleton Lakes this morning. Also several in Hagley earlier in the week. Seems like a good year for them this year. Hopefully, recovering π€
13.06.2025 16:44 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβve messaged them but as yet, no reply.
13.06.2025 10:34 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Itβs a shame because many years ago when you could access the meadow, it was a lovely place to sit and relax. I guess too many dog walkers entered. Not sure about NE. If WWT own it, I assume NE leave them to it, but it doesnβt look good and has basically been abandoned.
12.06.2025 19:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I was in the Wyre Forest yesterday and their meadow next to the DB is overgrown with bracken. It looks like it hasnβt been managed for quite a few years and it has just been forgotten. Other meadow areas are being grazed by the Dexter cattle from the Wyre Community Land Trust.
12.06.2025 18:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Is it still managed by Worcestershire Wildlife Trust Mike?
12.06.2025 14:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Bluethroat showed well this morning β¦βͺβ¦βͺ@WWTSlimbridgeβ¬β© . Also 3 Cattle Egret and a vocal Cuckoo on TNP. Otherwise quiet.
10.06.2025 14:11 β π 10 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Two Black-necked Grebe to the right of The Lookout @RSPBMiddleton @Staffsbirdnews @mercianbirding.bsky.social
06.06.2025 08:09 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yes, I thought so. Looking around furiously as well which I assumed was for a mate. Wonderful to watch but I walked away sad. Thereβs not many left in the Wyre.
31.05.2025 07:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Early morning visit to the Wyre Forest. Brilliant 30 mins with this fella. Sadly, his behaviour made me think he hadnβt paired. Also Redstart, Pied & Spot fly, Tree Pip, Cuckoo heard. No LSW or Dipper or Marsh Tit. #WorcsBirds
