A bit of πŸƒ around the Clent. Love to walk the hills and mountains. Often using bins and a scope. No camera, so all bad photos through a scope.

It dropped back into the reeds, so it’s still in the same area.

I know. I passed you. You were walking across the top causeway when it flew.

Bittern just flew out of the reeds at Grimley CLP. #worcsbirds

I was there last week and apart from a family party of Green Woodpeckers, I didn’t see anything of interest from the road arch to the weir. Not even butterflies. Every year that I go to see the Nightingales, I think due to lack of management, this could be the last year.

No water here until at least 12, so I may give it a go.

Bloody annoying as I was going to try Grimley on the way down.

Is that now Gert? I’m at Slimbridge and they’re closed due to a lack of water (you couldn’t make it!)

There were 3 Redshank chicks together yesterday morning. First I’ve seen there this year.

I seem to be doing well this year in my garden for butterflies and day flying moths. Several Painted Ladies and Hummingbird Hawk-moths seen so far this year. This one currently on the lavender @bc-westmids.bsky.social

Early morning visit to @RSPBMiddleton. Nothing unusual other than a Green Sandpiper flushed from the mud under the bird feeders near the car park. Decent number of juvenile LRP at all stages from just hatched to fledged. Also at least three very young Lapwing and solitary Hare.

There were spot fly near the WW on DML although I didn’t see them last week. The WW was on the Shrop side of the brook near the footbridge closest to the beaver enclosure.

I had a WW calling last week near to the beaver enclosure. Not in full song, so hopefully paired up.

Saw this one roosting Tuesday at Slimbridge and I’ve also seen them at the back of Walton Hill, Clent. Like you, I thought a little early. Must be the good weather.

Saw several Small Tortoiseshell at Middleton Lakes this morning. Also several in Hagley earlier in the week. Seems like a good year for them this year. Hopefully, recovering 🀞

It’s a shame because many years ago when you could access the meadow, it was a lovely place to sit and relax. I guess too many dog walkers entered. Not sure about NE. If WWT own it, I assume NE leave them to it, but it doesn’t look good and has basically been abandoned.

I was in the Wyre Forest yesterday and their meadow next to the DB is overgrown with bracken. It looks like it hasn’t been managed for quite a few years and it has just been forgotten. Other meadow areas are being grazed by the Dexter cattle from the Wyre Community Land Trust.

Is it still managed by Worcestershire Wildlife Trust Mike?

Yes, I thought so. Looking around furiously as well which I assumed was for a mate. Wonderful to watch but I walked away sad. There’s not many left in the Wyre.

Early morning visit to the Wyre Forest. Brilliant 30 mins with this fella. Sadly, his behaviour made me think he hadn’t paired. Also Redstart, Pied & Spot fly, Tree Pip, Cuckoo heard. No LSW or Dipper or Marsh Tit. #WorcsBirds
